If you are in Houston as an upcoming artist within hip-hop, well you should have heard about ARedd’s Showcase he’s been having lately. We were invited to The “We Workin” Showcase, Sunday May 26th. It was held at The Engine Room for Memorial Weekend. This becomes his second show which grew substantially. With DJ Calo on the 1s and 2s, he joined forces with DJ Nick The Quick on stage.
We caught up with one of Houston’s best Music Engineers at his show where he displays a great deal of artists. He allowed them to have the chance to perform with fans and others to connect. They were also able to network with each other and vibe off all the dope music played.
What is cool is that Aredd has a recording studio on the southwest side of Houston, TX. We are sure he had thoughts on how can he implement all of the talents he work with, giving them a chance on a stage. With his “We Working” Showcase, it gives you a moment to see who’s really putting in work with their music!
Artists had the chance to open up for Lil Splurge (@ssglilsplurge). Even though his set was shortened, the audience was stoked to have him hype them up. There were special guests artists such as EnzoMcFly, $tiffbarbie, Suave Louis, and Lil Brent. All artists came with their own vibes. Dedoe also came and invited the crowd on stage featuring Lil Jairmy. This became one of the highlights of the show as well. What a way to get crowd anticipation!
After watching each set, there were a good amount of artists who took over the stage. Then, there were a few artists that need more practice on taking over the stage. Overall, the experience was what mattered the most. That’s why we were eager to assist with allowing artists to know what’s real the deal.
Here is a few artists that we checked out as they performed and rocked out:
- Miko Racks
- Vibe Gang
- KID Camo
- Lucky Garcia
- Gwalla Twinz
- Isaiah Deleon
- Young Zone
After attending many showcases in Houston in particular, you always get artists perform, with no feedback or ways to enhance their craft. No follow ups, no announcement of who’s in the venue, media, press, videographers, photographers, etc. No actual networking field artists can grow accustomed to. So, some artists do not know how to approach others, especially if they really do not know. Just do your best and move around the room. Be sure to communicate with all around you. Keep positive energy and release it throughout the room by good feedback, a follow on social media, or ask questions! It’s that easy! Don’t leave a venue without connecting with at least five others. In due time it will help you.
We encourage aspiring artists to research and find ways to grasps your fans and audience. Put in more groundworks. Receive constructive criticism for its best. Be thankful and grateful during these memories and moments. Most important enjoy yourself! We hope to see Who’s Workin at the next show!
We caught up with an aspiring rap artist from Houston named LaVander. After listening to his music, we anticipate hearing what he has coming up in the future. As an upcoming artist, things become challenging when you are channeling your craft. LaVander has a sense of flow within his music. His concept with his lyrics are heard, yet something is missing. LaVander is a hip hop artist that’s taking his music one step at a time.
Although the artist can bring the concept of his tracks to life, he needs to become more enthused in this music. Practicing your flow and how the fans will interpret your voice is very important! LaVander has this unique presence on the mic and we look forward to hearing more from him.
