Social media has went into a frenzy about Gucci advertising their blackface sweater. The sweater becomes questionable and the black community becomes furious! Why would Gucci even put out such a design, even during black history month?
Many in the hip hop community blasts the high end fashion brand. Soulja Boy, T.I., Waka Flocka, and more goes in on Gucci and how they no longer will be supporting this brand. With most of blacks buying and flaunting the brand, this becomes a slap in the face to one of their biggest buyers.
Gucci sends out an apology:
As a whole, we should stop supporting these brands that still embrace to racist acts from the elite. We need to become more supportive of our black owned businesses that create clothing for our body design. These European brands don’t even fit us properly. Why do our black people complain but never make a call to action not to support these brands that care less? We are in high hopes that our people get the picture one day to end The ill mannered actions.
Gucci deeply apologizes for the offense caused by the wool balaclava jumper. We consider diversity to be a fundamental value to be fully upheld, respected, and at the forefront of every decision we make. Full statement below. pic.twitter.com/P2iXL9uOhs

New Orleans was granted a special gift after the holidays with Swisha Sweet’s massive show. Swisher Sweets presents The Artist Project where they created a show to highlight both mainstream and independent artists. The concert took place at The Orpheum Theater downtown of New Orleans. Every year, The Artist Project travels to different cities across the nation.
The NOLA Takeover gave seven emerging artists a chance to shine, opening for some of our biggest hip hop artists today. The artists consists of Snap Dogg, Kelechi, Iman, Charles Bryan, J Soulja, Don Doliver, and Rizzoo Rizzoo. These 7 artists were chosen and voted in by fans. They received the chance to open up for MGK, Desiigner, Gucci Mane, and Fetti Wap.
Upon arrival, guests were greeted with a special welcome from Swisher Sweets. The venue was filled with a great amount of fans, supporters, and special guests. The cheerful crowd anticipates all talents.
With New Orleans legendary, DJ Mannie Fresh and Comedian Rude Jude, they kept the crowd rolling. They kept us hyped and full of energy.
What we noticed was that the lineup for the show became diverse. We would normally see all opening acts perform before the headliners. Well, Swisher shuffled the stars with aspiring artists. Giving everyone a chance to be equally heard throughout the show. This made the show more exciting.
Every artist gave a good show, we received a special show from Fetti Wap. He served his fans up and down the stage. He seemed to have enjoyed the show as much as the audience did. Wap dances and sang without a doubt in his mind. We got the chance to see him live performing all of his hit songs.
Next, we seen the best performance of the show By Machine Gun Kelly. MGK show seemed to be one of the most anticipated from the crowds reaction. He bounced from one end of stage to another, even climbing on top of balcony. Touching everyone from upstairs on down, we loved that part of show.
The last performance was worth waiting for as LaFlare (Gucci Mane) comes unto the stage glowing the venue up! Atlanta’s own comes to New Orleans and sang his fans favorite songs. Gucci is no stranger to the Big Easy, you can tell he felt as f he was at home. He performed hits such as “Lemonade”, “Freaky Girl”, “Wake Up In The Sky”, “Black Beatles”, and more.
Overall, concert was a great experience. We become intimate with the artists, which joined the fans together. One thing that we did noticed was some of the crowd participation become tough for some of the opening acts. The support from the audience lingered throughout the show. Besides that, we give the show both thumbs up! We would like to thank Swisher Sweets for allowing us to attend their show. Can’t wait to see what’s next for the New Year!
One way to truly give back to the ones who need it the most. Us meeting with Sandra Hines a few months ago. Now we cannot resist to be apart of her movement and involvement in her community. It was a pleasure to meet Mr. Deonte Scott at his Farewell Celebration At Boheme in Houston, TX. Scott is a Chicago native who resides in Houston about 10 years now. With his new job, he will be relocating to Austin, TX for an ultimate adventure. Meeting with Scott was a pleasure. To see many in supports of the transition of his career shows his work holds longevity. The room was filled with good spirits and smiles from famiy and friends in supports of Mr. Scott. Sherita Stanley from Vision4Productions spoke with a few family and friends about Deonte:
“I watched Deonte connect with strangers, then – using his words – strip himself bare. Doing that allowed them to drop the mask of “it’s okay” or “we’re getting used to this” or “it is what it is”. And they let their true, raw feelings pour out, because Deonte had created a space that felt safe. And by sharing they left behind part of their burden because they sensed that Deonte was willing to pick it up and carry it and care for it.”
*Margaret Smith – Texas Childrens Hospital
“Worked with him at Cheveron formed a really good close friendship really good guy – he’s a good egg!!! Big time gentleman!!! ”
*Lyndsey Fitzgerald x Jenny Latman x tiffany Corbin of Chevron
“Deonte and I met at church we’ve been knowing each other roughly 7 or 8 years” – (Shannon Jackson)
“Work with him at the city knowing him 8/9 years and have been feiends every since!!! Very great friend …. Wishing him luck and keep in touch” – Karen & Kory Davis
Deonte works in the technology field with Global Mobility. He worked for Chevron before as well. He is a well known poet, giving spoken words about love, hardships, mental health, and more relatable issues in our community.
Deonte believes in becoming purposeful in life. Witnessing how people attract to ones doing, gives you a reason why he is loved by many. He became the voice for the people. You can ask for so much in the world, but giving and receiving this much love doesn’t amount to much for Mr.Scott. We are excited for his future endeavors and the milestone he has created for him and his family.
